College is coming and a big of part of the college experience (at least for me) is food. I eat a lot of ramen, pop tarts and other things and it's always fun to look up recipes for the college budget.
With that said, check this out. I wrote a
blog a that was put on IRLF about Totino's pizzas and I got a few comments that mentioned ways to make your own pizzas. I asked for a recipe but never got one, so I decided to just do it myself. Lucky me, I got it on the first try! Best part is, IT'S CHEAP.
Here's what you'll need:- English muffins
- shredded mozzarella cheese (or w/e kind you like)
pepperoni slices (or not if you don't like them)
- pizza/marinara sauce (the one I forgot. lol)
whatever other toppings you want
- cookie sheet
Here's what to do:- Preheat your oven to 400º.
- While you're waiting for the oven to heat, make your mini pizzas.
- Make sure you have your English muffins in halves and place your desired amount on the cookie sheet. Don't worry about them touching too much. A
- pply a decent layer of pizza sauce.
- Then add your shredded cheese. I used enough so I couldn't see through it, but it's up to your discretion.
- Then add the pepperoni slices and/or other toppings, again at your discretion.
Now they are ready! Put them in on the middle rack and set the time for about 10 minutes or until the outer edges of the English muffins are golden brown. May take more or less than 10 minutes depending on your oven. Take them out when ready, let the cool a little and eat away. There you have it. Mini pepperoni pizzas.
Other items mentioned in the comments to use instead of English muffins are tortillas and pita bread. I hope you enjoy! I'd like to thank
wait-by-moonlight,
oftwominds, and
morningstarrising for their ideas.
Let me know if you try it or have any tips on making this recipe better.
Do you have any simple recipes for quick, cheap meals?

Ooooooooooooooh, I might just add this in this year. :P
Hahahaha... I ALWAYS made these with my aunt. haha we used pita bread, english muffins, sliced bread, bagels... etc. :D
Mmm mini pizzas sound so good right now. Too bad I don't have any of those ingredients :(
oh man.. i just thought.. what if you use like.. those biscuits you get in a can? dude..
College recipes! Know anything more versatile, i.e. for strictly microwave use? lol
cheers!
these are SOO good!! the BEST with english muffins. i used to make them all the time as a kid :)
YUMMY. it looks good!
Ooh, yummy!
I actually started using Papa John's garlic butter. Melted butter and garlic salt should work too. I let that soak in the english muffin before putting the sauce on.
@soniiuh@xanga - Ohh! I bet bagels would be amazing.
@HollowTendencies@xanga - That could be interesting. I actually have a can of those.
@Meowmeowkimmaee@xanga - I don't sadly. My school was small so they rented out apartments that had ovens. And now I live in my own place that also has an oven. I'll see what I can figure out. I bet you could use the same ingredients and just nuke it. Not sure for how long tho. And the muffin might be a little soft.
@NinjaxBroadcast@xanga - should be fine for the pepperoni and cheese to microwave, but the muffin, hmm maybe i can blowdry it. LOL gross
@Meowmeowkimmaee@xanga - haha! oh my
Yum!
These look so yummy!
They look delicious!
I used to do the same thing, except I used wonder bread and american cheese squares.... you can get "pizza quick" in a bottle, and its all good. I like making pizza on my own. cheap and tasty
@Meowmeowkimmaee@xanga - i don't know your diet, so don't get offended by the mention of meat. You can totally do "hambuger helper" in the microwave. cook the meat, drain off the grease, then add the water, sauce pack, and noodle then cook.... you'll want to expeirment with the timing and that... also several times during cooking you need to stir. I have done this, but its been years. it taste about the same... stove top stuffing can also be nuked.... You have the internet, google it. I promise there is a wealth of knowledge on microwave cooking. 5 star quality food even
great post.
three cheers.

cute :)
so cute looking! .. and delicious of course.
OHHH THAT'S A GOOD IDEA! BUT THEN I DON'T HAVE AN OVEN IN MY HOUSE... I ONLY HAVE ONE OF THOSE TOASTER OVENS... WILL THAT WORK AS WELL?
Amazing <3 (:
So cute !! I love making home made pizza. It's so good. :)
english muffins? thats what killed it. i think english muffins are disgusting, imo.
but i like that you put other suggestions such as pita and tortilla shells.
my suggestion is use bagels. i actually use whole wheat or plain bagels instead
when i make mini pizzas.
and i also use bagels and spread peanut butter on them with a little jelly.
it may sound a little gross at first, but its surprisingly really good.
@Meowmeowkimmaee@xanga - Sounds weird, but trust me, it works.
If you don't have an oven (but DO have a regular toaster, or know someone with one) :
Toast first, then microwave, but only enough to melt/heat your toppings. Otherwise it'll go back to being soggy.
