It's that day again: TACO TUESDAYS! I love Rubio's fish tacos so much, it's ri-donk-u-lous! Normally, I hate salsa and I hate that sauce that they put in the fish tacos (What is it? Some sort of salad dressing?). But somehow Rubio's has found a way to make all of it taste effin' delicious. Honestly, my mind is blown.
I only buy on Tuesdays and I think the cashiers are starting to recognize me now! Today, the cashier guy actually handed me my to-go bag while he made everyone else pick up their own stuff!
Or then again, maybe it's cuz I was just sitting really close so it's not like he had to walk far. Or maybe it's because the traffic of orders was slowing down... whatever, I'll just pretend I'm being remembered for being a frequent customer. I always order the same things anyway: 2 fish tacos (flour... sometimes both corn and flour) and 1 churro.
I would be a customer for life if there was a Rubio's close enough to my home.
I feel like I'm turning into my dad. He works near this Vietnamese noodle restaurant and he goes there to lunch almost every single day because it is a) delicious and b) fast. He orders the same noodles every day (yellow noodle with beef) and as soon as he walks in the door... "OH HEY! Same thing today? ALRIGHT!" Bam! Instant table and instant service.
My mom's uncle is like that too, except it's at this one dim sum restaurant. No matter how crowded this restaurant is, he ALWAYS gets a table first (even when he has guests!). He knows all the names of the waiters and he knows who's the new worker b/c he hasn't learned his/her name yet.
Have you ever eaten at a place so often that you're recognized as a "celebrity" or get preferential treatment?

Before I moved, I had a "regular" Chinese restaurant in which I ordered the same thing every single time: "Tofu mix vegetable", and they knew my name. In my new city, not yet...but it's only been a year!
We go to the same bar for dinner every week - it used to be taco night, but it isnt anymore. The bartenders know us. The old owner knows us. The new half owner (old owner sold half) knows us. The old cook knows us. The new chef knows us. Its pretty sweet! As soon as they see us walk in the door our drinks are ready for us!
yes, I'm a creature of habit and I have a few places that know what I want when they see me
I buy a coffee and butter roll maybe once or twice a week for my dad and have been doing that for the past two years, so they usually give me the 69 cent butter roll for 25 cents. It's actually really nice of them to do that, they're great people :)
haha I think that's great that you can just go in and people know what you like and get it. You don't always have to wait at a table and wait for you food. Me, I don't have a special restaurant I go to yet.
At my old job my boss was always at Dunkin Donuts down the strip from our office. Every once in a while she'd ask me to go and get her tea. I'd walk in and just tell them...Debbie Tea please...and they'd know what to do.
At the bar I go to once a week the bartenders know what I drink and always have one ready for me when they see me approach the bar.
I'm not sure about celebrity, but there's a Mexican restaurant 2 hours away that recognizes my family. We go there every chance we get, sometimes 2-3 days in a row if we're staying nearby.
And we get a whole pizza at Sam's Club a lot, so they used to start preparing as soon as they saw us, but now there are different people working there.
LOL!! i think ur awesome hahahahahhaah
it's RI-DI-KU-LOUS!! lol!!!
anyways, man..i haven't seen one around texas =( but i miss them soo much!!!
I don't eat out often enough to be recognized, but my granduncle is totally like that. Sometimes I feel like he's abusing his celebrity status, cuz we always go out to dimsum at the same restaurant on Sunday mornings, the busiest time of the week o_O.
There's this Mexican restaurant called Cafe Adobe, they pretty much recognize my name whenever I set down a reservation. my friends always want a birthday party there, and since it's my favorite restaurant, they put me in charge of things haha. Like back in June, I had a party of about 40... it was supposed to be an orchestra banquet, and the secretary had chosen too small of a restaurant to hold all of us. Called Cafe Adobe and even though they were busy as heck, they managed to get tables put together for us within 30 minutes. "Anything for Shannon!", so the manager said. Needless to say I felt very cool :)
I'm also a regular down at the Sonic, along with my sisters and our friends and our cousins. They pretty much know everything about us. xD
Yeah, there's a local Chinese restaurant called "China Garden" that I stop by every time if I'm in town and want a bite to eat. The owners are semi-retired so they aren't open all the time anymore, and their prices are unbeatable. Of course, I'm easily recognizable for reasons I won't mention, but I do get some sort of preferential treatment there. It's pretty awesome honestly.
That's how I am at a local bubble tea shop and subway. It's kinda cool because you get to interact with your servers better and you occasionally get something special.
There are a few my favor restaurants in my hometown. It's hard for me to stick with one only.
LOL. oh my, personally I really hate it when that happens. It gets boring. T_T
@Jasper_Speaks@xanga - You'll be a celebrity in no time!
@der_lila_Stern@xanga - haha NICE!
@BEAUTIFULCINNAMONQUEEN@xanga - Wow, so you're famous at multiple restaurants? Sweet deal!
@soniiuh@xanga - That's cool, it's like that at 7-11 for me. I always get a large re-fill for SLURPEES and they charge me 99 cents instead of 1.39. Or maybe they're just forgetful and charge 99 cents whenever they hear "refill."
@violettesky@xanga - You probably haven't found THE ONE yet, haha.
@DarcKleer@xanga - "Debbie Tea" sounds like a cute name for a cafe.
@BebstersBlog2@xanga - LOL @ the Sam's Club story. Do you still go there for pizza? Maybe they'll start to recognize you XD
@immaairheadxl@xanga - haha "ri-donk-ulous" is my friend's way of saying how something is even more over the top than "ridiculous." Are the fish tacos at Texas not as good as Rubio's? D:
@onliadreamer@xanga - Sunday's are always super busy, but what's the point of having celebrity status if you can't abuse it? j/k
@comet555@xanga - That's awesome, do you still go there?
@stardustskye@xanga - Wow, you're a super star! haha
@abilene_piper_lg@xanga - lol is it one of the hole-in-the-wall restraunts?
@Roadlesstaken@xanga - Bubble Tea and Subway are love <3
@Blueberry_xh@xanga - That's true, it's really hard to just go to the same place over and over. It's nice that you have several to choose from!
@fried_ryce@xanga - It can get boring after a while. My mom hates going to the same places over and over, but my dad is okay with it. So whenever they want to go out to eat, they'll ask my sister or me since we're in-between. :p
@sailorsakura9@xanga - Yes, it's a little hole-in-the-wall. LOL.
@abilene_piper_lg@xanga - oh yeah, those are the best!
How much are those fish tacos?
@Meowmeowkimmaee@xanga - 1.25 on Tuesdays after 2:30 and 2 something every other day, but there's a 2 for $4 deal for those days.
Before our local American diner close down 15 years ago or could have been more like 10 years this was a favorite eating place.
Now it our local Indian which serves a few English dishes, I don't even have to asked for what I want of the menu because their know what I want we walk in.
For the local Indian I think we get bigger potions and a few add ons.
I always go to this food court and this specific noodle stall and when I approach the counter man always says 'SEAFOOD LAKSA NOODLE TODAY!!'
hahahhahaha it's like he's ordering for me.
I get a large sweet ice tea at a local coffee shop basically every time I go there. I went there today and they had a flavour I didn't like, and a worker asked if I wanted the usual. I said I didn't like the flavour, so they iced down a hot tea for me instead, even though I was totally prepared to get a coffee or something else.
Then I was missing a dollar, right before I found it, the guy said, "Oh, don't worry about it." I gave them the money anyways. I love that place, it's really the only place I can concentrate and do my homework.
When I went to college and at a food place (one of 3 or 4 others), I would always get the same thing.. and the lady was like the usual? Sometimes she'd get my order mixed up though. I usually got a beef cheese steak with mushrooms and mozzerella sticks or a grilled cheese. Or my other usual was quesadilla. At the sandwich station it was tuna salad or chicken salad with white bread, american cheese & mayo.
