Chili Filling Even the Hungriest Swimmers
The JB and his siblings ditched me to go jump in the lake (I couldn't go because I get majorly sick from driving the curvy roads it takes to get there) so I'm sitting at home all by myself.
Since I'm such a domesticated, good little housewife now (stop snickering) I decided to make a big ol' pot of chili for the hungry swimmers when they get back. Here's a fool proof, easy as heck recipe my MIL taught me...it may not be as good as the REAL all day sit on the stove chili with everything from scratch but it's pretty good. Here's the recipe for you people who want chili quick and fast and don't feel like eating just the canned stuff:

Ingredients (this will be for how much I'm making today..but you can adjust according to family size)
1-2 LB Ground Beef (the In-laws are meat eaters! *roar)
1-2 Packets of Chili Seasonings (depending on how much meat you got)
2 canned tomatoes diced (I use the ones w. chilis in 'em)
2 canned kidney beans
1 big pot
1 wooden stirring spoon
1 stovetop that works1. Brown beef and drain. Put back into big pot.
2. Pour canned tomatoes, kidney beans, and chili seasonings in with beef and stir until it's all nicely mixed up for you.
3. Bring to boil than simmer for however long you want on low (I usually do 30 minutes).
4. Get hot dogs, hot dog buns and fritos and shred some cheese
5. Ta da!

I had homemade chili last night and it was so delicious. My cousin makes her chili with lots of ketchup. Is that optional in your recipe?
Ooh, yum!! That sounds good! I'm always looking for a really easy chili (mine's the sit-all-day type).
Here's a recipe for a vegetarian chili that I really like. I make it fairly often, and just one small bowl of it fills me up easily.
Boooo, I don't eat meat :(
i make chili quite often too & i don't have time like a housewife does. but i add more than just kidney beans, it gives variety. i think i use pinto beans. they're hard to find. try that!
That looks just like what my mom makes. Sooo good!
We usually cook spaghetti too, and have a variation of Cincinnati chili. And Fritos in the chili as well.
That's very similar to what I make. I add onions and garlic (you can find jarred garlic in the produce section; I keep mine in the fridge once I've opened it) as well. You can also get chili beans as opposed to kidney beans if you buy the canned anyhow; that way, no need for the seasoning packet.
I don't eat chili that often but it is sooo good.
i love spice. :)
Nom nom nom, I love making my own food, this is a neat idea, and chili is filling.
yummy ... now i'm hungry
that sesame seeded hot dog bun looks sooo good. (leave it to a bread lover to gravitate towards the buns 1st haha). chilli looks good too, i'd try it
If you like thick chili, I add a can or two of tomato paste to the beef after you drain it and return it to the pot. Blend well, then add the other stuff.
I'm hungry now
