Ever felt like having fast food, but it just wasn't fancy enough for you? This is what I think the creators behind
Fancy Fast Food were thinking when they decided to take standard meals from fast food joints like McDonalds and Nathan's and give them a face lift to look less like the picture below and more like the picture above.
That's right, the not-so-bad looking corn chowder above was made from the following KFC staples: Original Recipe two-piece Breast & Wing Meal, a biscuit, corn on the cob, potato wedges, cole slaw, and bottled water. I'm not sure if I should say "yuck" or "yum" to these:
Dao Mi Noh Chow Mein made from Domino's Pizza (Talk about cultural blending!)
:
Nathan's Hot Dog Foie Gras:
Taco Bell Tortellinis
(made from Taco Bell Burrito Supremes, a soft taco, and hot sauce):
Popeyes Spicy Chicken Sushi
(made with Popeyes Bonafide Spicy Fried Chicken, a Loaded Chicken Wrap, a biscuit, cole slaw, red beans and rice, Louisiana hot sauce, and a Coca-Cola syrup topping):
Do the fancy dishes look better or worse than the originals?

they look better, but I still wouldn't eat them. I might have tried the tortellini and sushi until I got close enough to smell what they were.
It looks good to me either ways...
Looks yummy either way.
saying fancy makes you look like a simpleton. you should rephrase it with sophisticated.
by the way. the fast food industry is doing tremendously well in this economy. its one of the things best to invest in. here's why.
1. is cheap.2. its easy to find.3. its quick.4. most people enjoy it.
why on earth would they attempt to make it 'fancy' as you put it. it's a waste of time, effort, and money.
@Sadistic_Empathy@xanga - I think the blog is more of a culinary challenge than anything—to see if creative people can come up with some (technically) classier presentations for some unrefined dishes. Yeah, it probably doesn't make the most economic sense to do something like this, but I think they've got some serious imagination, brain power, and skill!
Dao Mi Noh Chow Mein made out of pizza sounds kind of suspect. The chicken sushi sounds good, though! xD I can't believe I'm saying this!
uh...not so sure.
It looks nice but it doesn't necessarily taste good to me. For my brother it would be the hey its all going to the same place deal.
wow thats incredible!!
I'd eat both types.
Either would float my boat.
The fancy food sounds fine, but man I really want to have Popeye's! I actually never had Nathan's, and I miss KFC and Taco Bell. =/
Looks better..fast food is still fast food though. Gross.
it all goes down my tummy :)
But you're basically eating the same crap presented differently. In other words, it's fast food + waste of time.
Betttttttter. I still wouldn't eat it though lol.
LOL. i'd like to see someone serving this at a posh party and have snobs saying its the best food ever.
Yes! This entire post made me so hungry!
The sushi looks good, as well as the tortellini!
i am blown away, there is a huge hole in my head now from the blow
Interesting. I've made bread pudding from both KFC biscuits and Krispy Kreme donuts, but I've never thought of going that far.
I think its better than just being insanely greasy.
the fancy dishes look nasty. id go for the fast food any day... i felt this was a silly concept... when u feel like having gourmet u go to a frickin gourmet restaurant... when u feel like have a burger and fries or whatever deep fried sinful food u want... u go there!! you really can't mix the two!!! lol....
