I went to South Jersey this past weekend to witness my friend Paul profess his love to his then-fiancée Alissa, whereupon she did likewise and the two were wedded. (Yay!) However, there was awakened a realization in me regarding my feelings, and so I must profess my love as well.
Wawa, I love you, and I miss you already.
A lot of people, especially my friends from Central and South Jersey, don't get what my fascination is with Wawa. My response is usually a look of unmitigated incredulity. How can you not like Wawa? They've got breakfast sandwiches with ciabatta bread, hoagies (or "subs", if you're rational about things), fresh fruit, iced tea, shakes, flavored syrup for your fountain drinks...heck, if you wanted to drink gas, you probably could because in most cases they sell that too.
I think the intensity of my burning passion for Wawa is increased by virtue of comparisons -- conscious and not -- to Quick Chek. If you don't know what a Quick Chek is, it's a convenience store sort of like Wawa, only, like, 1/10 of the store Wawa is. In my mind, there just is no competition. Wawa wins hands down.
Have you ever been to Wawa? Are you a fan of their stores?

I've been in Michigan and Wisconsin my whole life, and I was shocked to find out Meijer didn't exist in every corner of the world. I also have never heard of Wawa.
i got used to wawa living in philly ... their sandwiches are sooooooooo much better than quick check! seriously, i'd been getting quick check everyday lately since theres one right next to my work, but their sandwiches are somehow ... awful
blegh
yep, i've been to Wawa ...the good store with the weird name ;)
ah, i miss their cheesy pretzels. they were great. i'd go there all the time after school with my high school buddies and we'd just chill out there and eat food :) but there's something about mexican food that just makes you drool and if there was a choice i'd def. choose california. wawa doesn't have boba/bubble tea, unfortunately. xD
Never been there, but good to know when I'm in that area. Maybe pictures of their subs?
I'm from south jersey and i'm inlove with wawa. <3
I live in Philly and I LOVE Wawa. The hoagies are the best when it's 2am and you're just getting out of the bar. The Breakfast sandwiches, cheese filled pretzels, iced teas...I love everything about it!
I gather you're from North Jersey. Me too! And I SOOO wish we had a Wawa near us! We used to have one before for a few years, but it was taken down, I think because it didn't get a lot of customers. Now if they put a Wawa up here, though, it'd probably have as much traffic and popularity as Sonic! xD All my friends and I are obsessed with Wawa.
def a fan south jersey born and raised! wawa is amazing i loveee it!
When I lived in Pennsylvania, I used to absolutely adore Wawa. <3
I've never heard of it. Is it like 7-Eleven?
I would die without WaWa.
I'm not kidding, or exaggerating.
Philly born and raised. No WaWa = Death.
dude, there is no such thing as a "sub" at Wawa. Wawa sells hoagies. Magnificent, delicious, way-better-than-any-old-submarine-sandwich hoagies.
I just moved to chicago from philly... and mannnnn is wawa one of the things i miss most.
wawa is god. end of story,
I heard the WaWa originated in Wawa, PA. I'll have to look it up on wikipedia
Sounds awesome! I'd love to go.
I <3 South Jersey and WaWa :)
ahaha I live in Jersey, and yes, I love Wawa
Mm Wawa :]
I've never heard of it.
Dudes,
Sure, WaWa sells hoagies but there's no way they are better than the ones you get at Quick Chek. I've had both, MANY times. QC's are always better, hands down.
Hi...I'm the VP of sales at Quick Chek, and of course, we believe that we have the best tasting subs, and right now, you can get one of 5 varieties for only $2.99! We run this everyday, not like those hoagiefest guys with their tiny little promotion. Give it a try...and...go to our website, sign up for our Fresh List, and we'll send you a coupon for $2 bucks off our of our fabulous Angus Beef Burgers. Take a taste test on our subs, our burgers, our guaranteed fresh coffee, or our fresh in store bakery items, and email me at jschaninger@qchek.com with your thoughts. J Schaninger
I agree! Quick Chek subs are so good. I love the Turkey & Ham one! I'll have to try the burgers too...
Mmmm that sounds so good right now. it looks kinda scary though on the outside.. like ghetto or something.
