Group Picnic Food
Went to the town picnic over the weekend. I found out about it when my kids saw the street in front of the park full of cars. So, I moseyed on over; had food, had soft drinks, had a good time.
If I'd known about it before it started, I would've felt obligated to bring a covered dish of some sort. But, usually, I leave that to my lovely wife. (I recommend her deviled eggs.)
If you're bringing a covered dish to a group picnic, what do you bring?

My mom makes all sorts of things for picnics like pasta, make-yourself-tacos, cookies, brownies, and plenty of freshcut fruits.
Different things. People seem to like my baked beans and rice crispy cookies, so I make those a lot.
I always bring a container of fresh sliced fruits and assorted onigiri/rice balls.
dessert (peach cobbler, brownies, cookies, pie)
potato salad!
pasta salad made with those spiraly noodles that come in green and orange, ceasar dressing, cut up olives, onions, red bell peppers, tomatos, some romaine lettuce and feta cheese
Swiss cheese dip. (Shredded Swiss Cheese, Diced Onion, Mayo).
Potato rolls w/ham.
Roast beef, Swiss cheese, mayo, sprouts, on sourdough.
Damn, now I'm hungry.
Potato salad's always a classic, I guess. Over here though, we don't really have town picnics. I'm not even sure if I really know what that is, lol.
Seven layer mexican dip with assorted types of corn chips including organic, blue corn, tomato, etc
Sausage Spinach Squares (del-ish and kids love them)
Spanokopita
Authentic Greek Salad with assorted crusty bread for dipping (or mockni as the macedonians call it).
Picnics are simply fun. Considering the current economic situation, it is but normal to want to save money. Picnics are a cool way to to this.. The best part about picnics is that it really does help bond a family together through spending time together outside! Dont for get to bring your picnic baskets and be delighted.
