There once was a time when I never worried about brushing, flossing or otherwise making my teeth feel minty fresh. When I was a kid, I would be lucky if I remembered to brush my teeth again at night, let alone rinsing out with mouthwash or anything like that.
Come 2009, things are different. While I wouldn't say my dental hygiene is above reproach, I am a lot more conscious about how my mouth feels after a meal. Some time ago, I got into the habit of chewing gum after lunch and dinner, and sometimes just while going out as an added safeguard against any potential bad breath. You don't want to be on a date with someone and have them wince at the odor of garlic and onions coming from your general direction.
I'm not totally sure that I do need to freshen up after meals. I suppose it couldn't hurt. Still, I find it very hard to go without chewing a piece of
Stride gum or having a peppermint candy post-lunch or post-dinner. It's to the point where I feel real anxious when I don't have some sort of mint candy to appease my mouth between meals. My mouth just...
feels unclean. In fact, if you were ever to see me in real life and I were to look real annoyed, you should try offering me a stick of gum. I'm probably suffering in silent agony from a mint flavor deficiency.
Are you a compulsive gum/mint chewer?

holy crap. This is me. Scary.
I often do this. I find lunch incomplete if I don't have some kind of mint or gum to finish it off. It keeps my mouth clean and usually end up chewing it until my next meal, helping me to avoid any between-meal snacking. Win/win!
I haven't chewed gum in over 5 years, but a lot of the time I brush my teeth or eat an Altoid after meals.
The only reason why I chew gum all the time is because I'm so self conscious and always think that my breath smells even if it may not.
I'm the same! But the only problem for me, is that I almost never have gumm :(
cool i chew gum all the time aswel infact i am right now but im not addicted to chewing all the time i just like the taste
yikes. that's me too ! i feel so "lost" without it ahha :X
and you have a point there. the minty taste. never really the fruity ^^
I read this as I was sitting on my couch thinking about how much I want to go upstairs to get another piece of gum..
I found out recently that some gum gives me really bad stomach issues... [i.e. makes me really gassy. gross]
YES! i'm such a gum addict. Last year or so, I used to chew about 3-5 pieces of gum everyday. This year, it's about 1-2 pieces a day. Well...that's whenever I have the chance to buy gum for a $1 or under. Trident's my all-time fav. brand :D
im definitley the total opposite i dont like to chew gum haha i never feel the need i have gum packs sitting in my house from last year! id rather be chewing food!
Yeah pretty much, I go through at least a pack a day. I HAVE to brush my teeth though too.
@scruffylizard@xanga - omg, its me too.
Nope... not me. I might have a piece of gum once or twice a month.
i think thats how everyone feels now a days
i'm a mint person. i can't stand gum, for some reason >.<
@aiinos@xanga - same.
and since i heard about all the artificial ingredients and sweeteners that "harm" a little bit, im not that interested in gums
I chew about 6 PACKS of ORBIT GUM a DAY!!! It's nuts but very true! I have a terribly oral fixation that I just cannot get over!
Better than smoking, I suppose. I like gum and all, but not crazy chewing. My jaw gets tired.
Meh. It's an on and off phase for me. I really only chew it..for the purpose of chewing on something. Lol.
i find it too tiring to eat gums. and usually, i eat gum until the taste is gone. i can't stand chewing something tasteless, i'll feel like puking.
anw if it's for fresh breath, i heard that mint is better than gum?
