Today I will be running the idea by my mom. I want to buy these berries called miracle fruit that change the way your taste buds taste food. They are $6-$35 a berry, but they are worth it. Although I might buy the pills
here, the actual berries are from West Africa.
For about an hour after you eat just one berry, you can chug hot sauce or eat a lemon, but they will taste completely sweet.
To have a party, everybody has to bring something to share:
vinegar -- > cheap vodka
lemon -- > lemon drops
guinness -- > chocolate
lime -- > limeade
pineapples, hot sauce, kiwi, ketchup, grapefruit, pickles...
"The lemon and lime slices were like tart candy, the lemon juice was pleasant to drink on its own, and the strawberries brought me back to the ones covered in confectioner’s sugar I used to eat as a kid. I couldn’t get enough of them."
- Jacob Grier, Food Critic
When life hands you lemons, get miracle fruit.
Would you want to try this berry?

Definitely.
I've seen the pills on ThinkGeek.com, too. I'm very curious about them! I would definitely do a party or attend one!
No.
@Erika_Steele@xanga - why not?
wooh! cool!
I want I want :D
Ah, I've heard of this...
I would try this!
that is amazing.
I tried the berries when I went to this conference at Harvard Uni. It was pretty amazing but I wonder what the use would be other than for kicks?
There's an herb I've heard of that people in Japan use, though, that will take AWAY your sense of sweet food temporarily (makes chocolate taste like clay O_O) and it's useful for diets so people don't crave for sweets.
i've tried them. they make sour and bitter things taste sweet by selectively binding to receptors on your tastebud and making receptors normally for "sweet" molecules respond to other substrates. lemons and sour apples were fun. bitter drinks were sweet, but too sweet for my liking. a friend did say that beer tasted chocolatey, though.
I have tried it before, it's quite fun! Sat around eating lemons, heh. A taste party would be fun.
@Rhapsodical_Hazie@xanga - I suppose it could potentially be used as a sweetener without using actual sugar?
sounds like fun. i would try it...if it doesnt have any side effects like permanent taste altering.
That sure sounds interesting. It reminds me of the aftereffects you get when you hold vinegar in your mouth for a while. If the berries were cheaper, I'd probably like to try it.
@Rhapsodical_Hazie@xanga - thats really cool too! i could use some of that haha
Woww, never heard of this. How long does it last? I'd try it =D sounds fun.
I don't know about fresh berries, but I do buy the pills from www.sour2sweet.com regularly and they are great fun indeed. I am planing on throwing a tasting party in the near future as well!
LOL i want some of that
@daeshii@xanga - I saw them there, too! I love ThinkGeek!
I enjoy eating lemons because they're sour. I think those berries might take away what I enjoy in food, but I'm not opposed to trying 'em.
I think I saw these berries mentioned on an episode of CSI: NY. As I remember, a murder victim had eaten some of these berries at a party like the one you're thinking of having, and didn't realize that she had been poisoned.
I just checked, and the CSI: NY episode I mentioned was "Forbidden Fruit."
I tried it before at my school..it didn't work for me because I eat too much spicy food and my taste buds are all whack. So, yeah, everything tasted the same for me. 8[
lol is this for real??? where can i get those berries??? omg i wanna try!!
Really? Yess, I most definitely would like to try this. Where can you buy it exactly?
