It's summer time! More opportunities to attend carnivals and street fairs and with more opportunities comes more chances to eat fried carni food! Carnival food, a genre of its own, is known for its unusual greasy food.
Okay...so this isn't exactly the same kind of funnel cake found at carnivals but it was too delicious looking not to post! Funnel cake is something that I definitely associate with carnival food.
I'm pretty sure that vegetables aren't the typical side dish to a corn dog, more like fries or chips.
Cotton candy, sweet and sticky; it lures you in with its vivid colors and its soft fluffiness.
I have never heard or seen or tasted onion blossom, but looking at it makes me wish I had.
Deep-fried oreos. Wow. I don't even know where to begin with this one.
Butterfly fries aren't just fries to eat, but a work of art to puzzle over.
When other members of IReallyLikeFood team mentioned elephant ears as a carnival food, question marks -- and alarms -- exploded from my head. Apparently, like funnel cake, it's fried dough.
Fried cheese curds. Again, I haven't tried it, but it looks really really delicious! I could taste the melted cheese already!
These are just to name a few; what carnival food do you have to have?

even if its not a carnival, i still want my cotton candy :) but i havent been to many carnivals so i've never had carnival food before.
Theres this place i go to that sells elephant ears...well i watch them make it....the way they make it is deep frying a tortilla and adding sugar and cinnamon..yuM!
caramel apples, dip n dots, shaved ice, kettle corn, churros, nachos...i should stop. listing and eating them!
Deep fried oreos = instant heart attack, but so very delicious.
LMAO. I haven't tried any of these except cotton candy. Maybe.. I'm just a deprived you know..child.
Indian fry bread covered with honey and powdered sugar, caramel apples, corn dogs, and kettle corn.
Wowowow, some of that stuff looks so good! I'd be quite keen to try the three before the last ones, even if they're disgustingly bad for the body.
I've never heard of half of these things at all to be honest, only Candy Floss and "Corn Dogs".
i want a churro..
Popcorn, rofl.
fried snickers. yum. :)
so good. i would try the fried oreo especially! i think i only had hotdogs or cherros during carnivals..
I love funnel cake. I haven't had it in years...probably a good thing but it's sooo good. The picture of it above with the ice cream looks amazing.
I love corn dogs and onion blossoms! I hardly go to carnivals, but I must have those satay (marinated bbq meat pieces on bamboo sticks) and also guava slices sprinkled with powdered sour plums!
FUNNEL CAKE!
ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! cheese curds rock on!!! i wanna try the deep fried oreo, but i betcha they go straight to your thighs LOL
I'm not a huge fan of fried things. I usually get nachos or ice cream if I get anything at all.
Funnel cake... oh god. Deliciousness.
I LOVE funnel cake, elephant ears, cotton candy, fries, shaken lemonade, carmel apples....
but i've never had a deep fried oreo.
That picture of a funnel cake looks nasty. I love funnel cakes and elephant ears, it's pretty much the only reason I would go to a carnival. Nasty, sweaty rednecks in too-tight tank tops just aren't my thing, and that seems to be the only kind of people that come out to the carnival in my hometown. I guess it's called "Butterfest" for a reason...
WHAT ABOUT THE GIANT TURKEY LEGS!?!?!!? THEY ARE SOOOO GOOOOOOOOOOD.
Funnel cake, I actually had some the other day at a festival!
mmm funnel cake & churros
Omnomnomnomnomnom~ Oh how I love carnivals and fairs!
xD fried oreos~~ so greasy. D; yet so good. T-T
