  • Foodie Tribute to Michael Jackson

The media is abuzz over the recent death of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, and should duly do so.

I was in the theater watching Transformers and The Hangover when a friend of mine texted me that MJ had died. I sat in the seats stunned; I couldn't believe it; I even said it out loud to another friend who sat next to me -- causing people nearby to stare at me like I was an idiot -- and then she too looked at me like I had gone mental. Because after all these years of hearing bad press about Jackson, he was still Michael Jackson, the pop legend.
Hence, this is a foodie tribute to him; IReallyLikeFood's way of honoring the talented singer.

Seriouseats.com posted this already and can be found here.
In the following video, Michael Jackson organizes a food fight with Macaulay Culkin after filming the movie Black or White. Apparently, Jackson loved food fights!

In another article, written by Charles Ferruzza and found here, the writer says that back in 1984, Jackson's hit Thriller created the THRILLER burger. Ferruzza comments: "A burger joint on the edge of Westport, Mitch's Little Angus -- long gone, I'm sad to say -- unfurled this banner 25 years ago (almost to the day) touting the "Gourmet Burger of the Week:" the Thriller Burger. I took this photograph right before I went inside to eat one. I can't remember what was on the featured burger to make it, you know, thrilling. There are some things you forget eating after a quarter of a century. But in honor of Michael Jackson, I wish I were eating a Thriller Burger right now."

It's sad to think that there are no future appearances by him and no future music created or sung by him; our hearts go out to Jackson's family, his friends, and his fans--who continually admire how he revolutionized music.
