If you've ever been to New York City or happen to live in New York City, I'm sure you must have heard about Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest, which takes place on Coney Island every fourth of July since 1916. This famous competitive eating contest helped Takeru Kobayashi and Joey Chestnut get famous through their ever-managing stomaches--eating 59 hot dogs in the 2008 tie with Chestnut out-beating Kobayashi in a 5 hot dog eat-off immediately afterward.
I always imagined competitive eaters to be large, but Kobayashi has ripped abs. And Sonya Thomas only weighs 105 pounds!
So for July 4th, grab a swimsuit and get sand stuck in places you wouldn't want and enjoy watching competitive eaters stuff themselves silly with hot dogs in Coney Island, NY!
Would you ever want to train to become a competitive eater? Think about all the food you can inhale!

No I think I pass on anything like this.
No... I would hate to live this lifestyle. D:
It's funny how all these eating contest competitors are so fit!
Are those real? o__o What the heck, his abs look so fake! Didn't Kobayashi go against a black bear once?
@fried_ryce@xanga - same here, lol.@lizzie_wizzie@xanga - I thought the same thing..
I think it's takes the fun out of eating food. Plus I think it's a waste. I like to savor, I eat small portions, and I like variety.
I am the slowest eater you will ever meet. I've had a very narrow esophagus up until last summer when I had to have it enlarged 3 different times so it took me ( and still does) forever to swallow my food. I'd lose terribly.
