As I type this I'm already salivating. I was browsing around
tastespotting.com, and came upon this magnificent image of a strawberry shortcake.
I used to eat strawberry shortcake (the ice cream) all the time, it took me years to figure out it's an actual dessert and not just an ice cream flavor. Eh, so I'm a bit dense.
Anyways, after taking a bite of real strawberry shortcake, I realized I was hooked. Though, it's usually made with some sort of sponge cake, I think it tastes so much better with pound cake.

Strangely, I don't like strawberries all that much; they taste a little too sour sometimes for me. Though, I'm still willing to eat strawberry shortcake because the combination of whip cream and strawberries and cake is too appetizing to resist.
Do you ever find that you like a certain food yet it contains an ingredient you usually don't like?

I'm not a big fan of cabbage--minus kimchi--but bulgogi is always served with it. I don't eat it, but I'll eat around it for the beef.
Otherwise, I can't think of anything I eat that has anything in it that I wouldn't eat separately.
1) i love tiramisu cake but i don't like coffee at all..
2) i don't take vegetarian mock meat because of the MSG but i eat it if it's in a rice dumpling because it would be ironic to separate them. damage control exercise to follow.
3) i don't like corn but i don't mind corn ice-cream. love them!
4) i hate red bean but i do eat red bean ice-cream
5) i do not take lard and would puke if there's any in my mouth but i remembered that i love it in the form of pork satay because they're all bbq-ed and yummy. but i do not take pork anymore now.
6) i love apples as a fruit but hate it when it's cooked. so i'd dig out all the fillings of apple pie/tart and eat the crust only. i love eating crusts.
7) i love pizza but i don't take ham anymore so i always had to take it out and give it to someone else
8) anything that has poultry/red meat and i'll have to take them out or replace it in the order with vegetables
9) i think sugar icing is way too freaking sweet and i don't like it but don't mind them on donuts though i always had to dust most of them off
10) i don't like whipped cream but am okay if it's moderately eaten with cake..
Good, ripe strawberries shouldn't be sour. We have a patch of strawberries in our garden, and they're always super sweet by themselves. We also get them from a local farm, and I don't think I've ever gotten a sour berry from them.
Go to a good farmers market, you'll start enjoying them more.
vegetarian mock meats soooo don't contain msg what the hell =S haha
@hungerx33@xanga - lol they do! well, most of them do if you look at the labels carefully. they also contained gluten and other flavors enhancers. MSG is just one of the common ones! of course, organic ones doesn't contain it but if i'm going to get organic for mock meat, i might as well get organic real stuffs =D
Healthy foods should be taken by those who are near illed and totally illed! Haha! Cakes are best ever! Look for gluten free cake.Having to stick to a gluten free diet is certainly no picnic, but a gluten free diet doesn't have to be all that bad, or even too expensive. There are gluten free alternatives out there for just about anything. Gluten free pizza, gluten free bread (if you bake without using oats or wheat), there's even Redbridge, a gluten free beer made by Budweiser. Gluten allergies are caused by a condition known as celiac disease, an auto-immune disease caused by an allergy to a gluten protein, found in certain grains. There are some recipes for gluten free dishes on $5 dollar dinners, so you can definitely have a gluten free diet with no need for a payday loan.
Nothing comes to mind... but if there is something in a food that I don't like, then I usually just avoid it altogether. Like shrimp =P
I know there are some foods like that for me... I just can't think of them right now.. meh
