Does Airplane Food Cause Projectile Vomitting?
Every time I board a long distance flight, I know I will dread the experience until the moment I get off the plane. It's because there's almost nothing productive you can do, and the only things that will make time go by faster are the following:
Sleeping
Watching movies
Eating the meals providedFor me, there are only two options - sleeping and watching movies. I absolutely loathe airplane food and I only eat a bit of it to satisfy my hunger. Just the utter smell of the food makes me want to purge, and, for some reason, the mere fact that the meals are wrapped in tin foil turns me off. Then when I go ahead and taste the food, it sickens me. Not once have I enjoyed a meal during a flight.
So, do you like or dislike airplane food?

I've only been on a plane a couple of times. The first time, they gave us these cool Lunchable-esque things with meat, spreadable cheese, crackers, pretzels and a candy bar. That was a pretty sweet meal. The second time it was just a Pepsi and a bag of pretzels.
dislike.
I'm hopin to eat pot noodles on my flight to hk this summer...hmm...
dislike.
I love it. whoo~
Ew, that picture is gross. I don't like everything they offer, but SOME of it is good.
in my limited experience with airplane food, i have to say it was the most disgusting meal i had in my life and definitely barely touched it b/c i was willing to wait the few hours until i landed on the ground and could get something much more appetizing and nutritious
It wholly depends on the meal. I've had great chicken cordon bleu and crappy spaghetti, great sub sandwich and crappy mac and cheese with beef. Do they even serve meals on planes anymore? I can't remember...haven't been on a plane since 2005.
I haven't been on a flight that had food in years. All the cut-backs on service, you know.
I have always loved airplane food! I don't know, the only time I have had a bad experience with airplane food was when I woke up once and meal time had already passed. The stewardess made me a cup of ramen and I threw up all over it. When I eat the normal airplane food I never get sick. A lot of times I even prefer economy class food over the first class food (we have so many frequent flier miles we usually fly first class now)! It's a lot simpler, because in first class the meal actually comes in courses, with appetizer, salad, main course, dessert, and all that.
Anyway, there are so many more things to do than sleep, eat, and watch movies on planes. I used to do embroidery, but I bet they won't let you bring needles on to planes anymore =P BY FAR the best thing to do is READ! It makes the time go by SO much faster! I looooove reading. There's also sudoku or other puzzle games, drawing, fooling around on your laptop, listening to your music player, etc. You are limiting yourself.
I usually don't eat unless I am starving. Even 12 hours is not that long to wait to land and get something decent at the airport.
I absolutely hate it. The food is the worst. I almost always refuse to eat it. I end up eating fruits and drinking soda, and let me tell you, that is not enough. The feeling is terrible especially if the plane ride is long. You can stare at the screen for so long; that is what I usually do anyhow. But, after a certain amount of hours, I start feeling crammed and sick. I'm assuming this is because I need food.
However, I really don't like airplane food, in addition I'm a vegetarian, so I just skip it all together. So, I end up feeling nauseous for the rest of the ride. Not good at all. I'm seriously debating if I should bring my own snacks to the plane next time. I heard that for some planes, you can ask for cup noodle? Not sure if it's safe to actually eat from a cup of hot water in a constantly moving environment, but at least it's good? Perhaps its worth the risk.
no.. :X
I don't mind it. I don't always eat all of it, but it's not so bad. Certainly not bad enough for me to vomit. =] (And ditto with black_lie. I always bring a book to read, or I try to do some homework)
i like airplane food haha... but ive never had anything that looked like the picture above. ive had great meals with smoked salmon salads or salmon fillets.
the airplane foood i had was nicely plated & everything.
it looks nothing like the picture O_o.
<3it.
ewww thats a gross picture but i doubt all airlines serve that kind of food (if you want to call it that). it depends on which airline you take though. singapore airlines has great food. i dont even know what the main picture is...looks like something somebody threw up. are you sure its not hospital food??? *lol*
I have no idea why but I usually do not eat on plane.
I just lose all my appetize to eat. ;p
However, an ice-cream will be great which I got to have when I went to Thailand. :)
@JustPeachs@xanga - haha how ironic, your comment is almost the exact opposite of mine, down to the cup noodles detail
Um, it certainly made me projectile vomit....all over my family and the people in front and behind me while landing in mexico.
some of the airlines offer decent food, they actually distribute a meal menu to each passenger's seat and it looks really pro! I could eat food on cathay pacific , air canada, and japan airlines flights, but my last experience with northwest was not very satisfying
@black_lie@xanga - I can't read or do puzzles on a plane 'cuz that makes me sick too! Even on land when I'm in the car or on a bus, if I try to read the newspaper or do the crossword on it, I get nauseated. That's how bad things are for me. My motion sickness probably contributes to why I don't like plane food :P.
@lotjiujeurng@xanga - They serve actual meals on long distance flights. I've flown anywhere from 11 to 15 hours at a time. That's why I have to force myself to eat SOMETHING lol
@jazziegal97@xanga - Really? I don't know whether to feel bad or laugh! But uh, if you're wondering, the editors on this site actually changed the title of my post ><.
@aznbabeedreamer@xanga - Hmm, I guess it is nicely packaged sometimes. And I think that picture up there isn't even an airplane meal. It's probably a really crappy looking microwaveable meal from google images.
