  • A Trip To The Boiling Crab in San Jose, California

So what I have dubbed "The Monthly Eating Club" reconvened last night in my hood, San Jose, to pig out at the Boiling Crab.  The idea:  give you food in bags, eat.  Make huge mess.  Grub.  They are also located in Southern California and Texas.

It's less than 12 hours after we finished eating, and I'm still REALLY full.

The interior decor was cute, with this big old shark in the middle (I should have suggested they put a Sharks jersey on him), TV's everywhere, and an overall theme of you on a dock.

Deliberating over the menus.  We were a large group of 9.  Seriously, be prepared to wait.  Even on a Thursday night.

You cannot avoid the sloppy eating, you can just hope to contain it.  Bring clothes you don't mind possibly getting dirty.  I even managed to get crab juice on my face.

One half of our table which loved crawfish ordered a bazillion tons of food.  I shared with our friend John, and between the two of us we ordered one dungeness crab (mmm) and a pound of shrimp.  For flavor, we ordered the whole sha-bang (a mixture of Rajun Cajun, Garlic Butter and Lemon Pepper) in a mild flavor.

The crawfish and clams, and the eager hands going for it.

CRAWFISH KILLERS!  Angel spent the last three years in New Orleans, so she knows how to eat a crawfish.

My beautiful dungeness crab before we destroyed it.  The seafood is boiled, and put in the sauce.  It is brought out to you in buckets inside these bags.  The bags are then just plopped on your table.  I like it.  Kinda like eating street food in other countries.

Here is what a pound of shrimp looks like.  I would like everyone to know I did NOT eat the heads. But the bodies were delish.

The carnage... oh the carnage... they just put paper down on the table, and you just leave your mess there for mucho easier cleanup.

What we thought was the bill... until they came back and said "oops!  We forgot to enter in the weight of your crab, yeah it's actually another 60 bucks."

Whoops.  Oh well.  For 9 people and all that lush delicious seafood that was sacrificed before us last night?  Totally worth it.

    Yummmmm.

Do you like to eat crawfish? What's the best restaurant you've gone to for crawfish?
