A few days ago, the BF surprised me with a gourmet, home-cooked meal! He banished me from the kitchen and exiled me upstairs to study. Every once in a while, he'd holler, "where's your oil" or "do you have any tinfoil?"
I'd hear banging, chopping, and some loud thwacks! Thwack! Thwack! Pretty scary. Don't get me wrong -I love my meat cleaver -I am just afraid of loved ones using it.

Anyway...turns out that the thwacks came from the BF painstakingly removing meat from snow crab legs!
The menu of the night:
And the final result:
It was so good! He lightly seasoned the fish on both sides with a little salt and pepper, and let the snow crab do the rest. The seared scallops were really yummy too--in fact, it was the smell of the scallops that made me demand to be fed.
The butternut squash was taking too long to finish roasting so he proceeded without it. The next day, I decided to make good use of it and try something I've been aching to do for ages: homemade butternut squash ravioli.

(Check out ireallylikefood tomorrow for the awesome butternut squash ravioli recipe!)
Do you or your significant other ever make special meals for each other? What was the last meal you made or received?

Oooh I love scallops! Your bf's cooking method sounds fairly easy to give a try. I think it's so sweet he cooked for you! I would probably melt if my hubs did this for me. =)

That's an amazing menu he made you! :) Wish my guy could cook, but alas, i'm the "chef" of the marriage, haha. i make him multi-dish menus like that for special occasions like holidays and anniversaries. i should teach him to cook though so once in a while he could be sweet like your guy and cook for me.
