  • QOTD: How Do You Like Your Steak?

It's a food that most people love.

When my older brother lived in Texas for 6 months, it forever changed his view on steak. When he ordered his usual doneness (medium), it came out bleeding (only a little bit, but still). He's ordered medium-well ever since. Texas is also where he was exposed to blue steak (basically, you take a raw steak, put it next to some heat source for a couple minutes, flip and you're done). That is a way I could never eat my steaks.

Personally, I like my steak on the medium end of the spectrum, perhaps with leanings towards medium-well. I like having a little bit of pink inside my steak, enough to keep it tender, though not too much that it's still bleeding.

There are also different methods to prepare steak. There's the classic barbecue/grill. There's Swiss steak (my mom made a killer Swiss steak...you didn't need a knife to cut it, it was so tender!). There's chicken-fried steak (a recipe that I love using from time to time). Then, there are different sauces... HP, A1, Frank's Red Hot, Worcestershire and red wine sauce.

From the basic doneness to the more advanced methods of preparation, steak is truly an adventure waiting to happen.
